About:
I'm the fourth generation of Wilsie to live in Texas, so after 20 years of living in Minneapolis Minnesota, I'm thrilled to be calling Austin my home. Since moving here and joining Shop LC in March of 2013, I can safely say I've never had as much fun, and never worked with such an amazing group of people, in my entire career.
I started in TV as a director, actually directing our high school’s newscast in the mid-1980s, and figured that is where my career would take me. Upon graduation and starting college, I realized I had a voice which wouldn't stop, so I gave radio a try. I worked for a station playing what was, at the time, "alternative music" but most of which we would today consider very mainstream.
In 1992, I gave up radio to join the staff of a small group of show hosts at a new shopping network called "ValueVision", where I would sell (mainly) jewelry but occasionally wrist watches and home products. It's also where I worked with, and became friends with one Karen Connelly, (but that's another story for another time). By the early 2000s, as much as I liked my job and my co-workers, I started to realize my dislike of winter was becoming overwhelming, and I needed to get out of Minnesota. That and the industry was changing, and someone with a strong personality like mine didn't fit in with where the "traditional" shopping networks were going. I didn't want to be a "presenter" and just follow a format, so it was time to move on.
Enter one Dan Dennis. Dan and I have been friends since the early 90's and he was at a new shopping network based in Austin Texas. I would come home from my air shifts at the network I was at, and watch this new channel. "they're having fun", I thought to myself, and that's where I wanted to be. It took a while to make it happen, but here I am and I've never been happier in my career
